It seems that advent calendars have gone from the paper kind I had as a child (where you were excited to see what festive picture lay behind each numbered door) to every child feeling short changed if they don’t have a substantial chocolate for each day and/or some kind of toy.
Just when I was starting to come round to the fact that advent calendars that used to cost a couple of pounds are now comfortably £10 for a premium chocolate one or £20 for the ones that contain toy figures I discovered the beauty advent calendar.
At first I laughed at the crazy prices – starting around £40 but going up into the £100s but now I’m actually starting to crave one. The idea of 24 surprise trial-size beauty products behind their beautifully illustrated windows is starting to haunt me and I’ve strayed onto online searches more often than I’d care to admit.
